kulae maintains a twofold mission to provide the most stylish and eco-friendly yoga mats, yoga mat towels and yoga accessories on the planet while truly living the kulae mantra of "karma's real".
The company name kulae was derived from the word kula. Kula is a word from the Sanskrit language meaning community. Sanskrit is the ancient language of India. The letter 's' makes a word plural in the English language and the letter 'e' makes a word plural in the Sanskrit languange. When you add an 'e' or make the word kula plural, you get the name kulae. kulae means communities coming and working together to help maintain healthy people on a healthy planet.
kulae has built some of finest eco yoga mats on the market with the kulae tpECOmat™ family of yoga mats. All lines of kulae tpECOmats are 100% biodegradable, 100% recyclable, and contain NO PVC, NO latex, NO cadmium, NO lead and NO rubber (that means NO allergies). kulae eco yoga mats are dual layer constructed. This means that each kulae yoga mat provides two color options and two distinct, grippy surfaces for you to choose from, all in one kulae yoga mat.
kulae eco yoga mats are made of eco-conscious TPE using closed cell technology. What that means for you is that bacteria and germs cannot get "trapped" in the kulae yoga mat, as is the case with most natural rubber yoga mats and traditional PVC yoga mats (which use open cell construction). With the kulae tpECOmat yoga mat you will get the grip of a traditional "sticky" yoga mat without the smell, the heavy carrying weight and the lingering odors found in traditional rubber/PVC yoga mats.
The durability, comfort and traction of the kulae tpECOmat™ family of yoga mats are second to none.
The kulae mission doesn't stop with the kulae tpECOmat™ yoga mat. The kulae yoga straps are made of 100% cotton. kulae uses 100% renewable Portuguese cork instead of foam for the kulae yoga blocks and the kulae yoga mat cleaner is 100% certified organic.
kulae is working hard to ensure that your yoga practice and fitness experience is in concert with the world in which we live.

Should I wash my brand new kulae tpECOmat before I use it?
YES! Not only will a quick wash ensure hygiene after the packaging and shipping of your kulae eco yoga mat, it will also improve the traction. After kulae manufactures their yoga mats, kulae adds a very thin protective layer to both sides of the kulae yoga mat to prevent damage during packaging/shipping. Optimal traction occurs without this protective layer on your kulae eco-friendly yoga mat. To remove the protective layer, simply wash once using the kulae organic yoga mat cleaner, or any organic, mild cleanser that is free of conditioners and moisturizers.
